Settings › General › About: an “EID” line means the eSIM is there.

  2. 2

On most phones, this code shows the IMEI and, when the phone has eSIM, an EID number.

  3. 3

    Check it is unlocked

A travel eSIM only works on a phone that is not locked to a carrier: your carrier can confirm it and unlock your iPad (7th generation) before you leave.

Can I keep my phone number abroad with the iPad (7th generation)?

Which travel eSIM should I get for the iPad (7th generation)?

Does the iPad (7th generation) have a SIM card slot, or is it eSIM only?

Yes: every version of the iPad (7th generation) has a SIM card slot (1 nano-SIM), plus eSIM.

Can I use two eSIMs at the same time on the iPad (7th generation)?

Not two eSIMs: one eSIM and one physical SIM can be active at the same time.

Why is my eSIM not working on the iPad (7th generation)?

Check four things in Settings › Cellular: the travel eSIM line is turned on, it is selected for Cellular Data, Data Roaming is on for that line, and your iPhone is not locked to a carrier. Then restart it.

What if the eSIM is stuck on “activating”?

Activation needs an Internet connection: stay on Wi-Fi for a few minutes, then restart the phone. Many travel eSIMs only connect once you land, so “No service” before you leave is normal.
